Notes on Richard Dale Starcher

Richard D. Starcher was born to Allen B. and Icie Mae Starcher on October 21, 1921.

He married Evalena Parsons on June 5, 1943. Evalena was the daughter of Roscoe Parsons Grantsville. She was born at Cedarville in Gilmer County West Virginia. When they were married Richard was 21 and Evalena was 17. An image of their marriage certificate is available AT THIS LINK.

Wedding Told
Saturday Evening

Coming as a surprise to their many friends was the marriage of Miss Evalena Parsons and Mr. Richard Starcher, which occurred Saturday evening at the Baptist Parsonage in Grantsville.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. Roscoe Parsons and the late Mrs. Parsons of Normantown. Mr. Starcher is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Allan B. Starcher of Millstone.

Rev. Fell Kennedy officiated at the ceremony. The bride wora a white crepe street-length dress, with a shoulder corsage of red roses. Her only attendant was Seva Delores Starcher, small niece of the bridegroom.

The couple left Monday for Barberton, O., where they will reside. Mr. Starcher is employed by the Diamond Match Company in that city.





50th anniversary, 1993

Richard died June 30, 2007 in North Carolina.
