Notes on Melvin H. Starcher

Melvin H. Starcher was born February 23, 1906 to Allen B. and Icie Starcher at the home on Daniels Run. An image of his birth record is available AT THIS LINK, with a second report AT THIS LINK.

He is known to have lived and worked in Barberton Ohio in the 1920s at least for a time.

A marriage record at the West Virginia Archives AT THIS LINK documents the marriage December 4, 1939, of Melvin Starcher, age 33, son of Allen and Icy Starcher to Evelyn Miller, age 18, daughter of Orville and Sarah Miller.

This marriage was apparantly short lived. He married Beulah Blake on October 12, 1946. Beulah was the daughter of Wait Blake and Sarah Blake. Melvin was 40, Beulah was 32. An image of their marriage certificate is available AT THIS LINK.

Melvin and Beulah are known to have lived in Barberton Ohio after their marriage. He was living in Barberton in 1948, and it is about that time that Melvin and Beulah apparantly moved back to Daniel's Run. (Daniels Run News).

Melvin and Beulah lived on their farm at the foot of Daniel's Run Hill, just off Rt 16. He was a lifelong farmer. Melvin and Beulah had no children.

Beulah died September 20, 1983. Melvin died August 29, 1994.

STARCHER, MELVIN H.
Melvin H. Starcher, 88, of Millstone, died Monday, Aug. 29, 1994, at Calhoun General Hospital, Grantsville. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Allen B. and Icie M. Duval Starcher. He was a farmer. Surviving are four sisters, Opal Nitz of Barberton, Ohio, Beulah Burden of West Salem, Ohio, Justine Miller of Spencer and Nina Boatright of Norton, Ohio; and three brothers, Delbert Starcher of Barberton, Richard Starcher of Charlotte, N.C., and Denver Starcher of Middlebourne. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Blake Starcher; four brothers; and one sister. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Sycamore Baptist Church Cemetery, Millstone.
