Hans Rector would be an 8-great grandfather of Allen B. Starcher, and thus a 10-great grandfather of this writer.

1.HANS RECTOR

Hans Rector was born about 1550 in Saxony, Germany. He paid a fee to become a citizen of Siegen in 1585 and it was recorded that he came from Meissen County near the city of Freiberg. His spouse is unknown.

2.JOGHANNES JACOB RECTOR 1.HANS RECTOR

Johannes Jacob Rector, a son of Hans Rector was born in 1605 in Oberpfalz, Siegen, Prussia. He married Anna ---- about 1630 in Seigen, Trupbach, Germany. In 1638 Johannes Richters (Rector) was admitted to the "Guild of Hammersmiths & Smelters" as a "Reidtmaster."

Christopher “Chartisoffel” Richter/Rector, a son of Johannes Jacob and Anna Rector, was born June 29, 1631 in Seigen, Trupbach, Westfalen, Germany, and died about 1713. He married Anna Catherine Becker in 1665 in Trupbach, Germany. Anna, a daughter of Herman and Ottila Becker, was born April 19, 1640 in Seigen, Trupbach, Westfalen, Germany and died there June 13, 1713. Christopher was a clockmaker.

17.HANS JACOB RECTOR 4.CHRISTOPHER RECTOR 2.JOHANNES JACOB RECTOR 1.HANS RECTOR

Hans Jacob “John Jacob” Rector, a son of Christopher and Anna (Becker) Richter/Rector, was born October 10, 1674 in Trupbach, Westfalen, Germany and died July 1729 in Germantown, Fauquier County VA. He married Anna Elizabeth Fishback January 17, 1710/11 in Trupbach, Westfalen, Germany. Anna, a daughter of Phillip and Elizabeth (Heimbach) Hans Johann was born October 10, 1674 in Siegen, Westphalia, Prussia (Germany) and died after 1730 in Fuquier County VA.

Hans Jacob" Rector was admitted to the Guild of Steelsmiths and Toolmakers on January 12,Freudenburg,Germany. He was a toolmaker.

Hans came to America in 1714 with 12 other families. Swiss developer Baron Von Graffenried was engaged by Governor Spotswood to recruit people to mine and process newly found iron ore. He contracted people from the old principality of Nassau-Siegen, now part of Westphalia, Germany. In this area of Germany, 45 miles east of Bonn, iron ore had been mined, processed and iron products made there for centuries and the residents had the necessary skills.

Hans helped to found Germantown in Fauquier County VA about 1720 when he

Johannes “John” Rector, a son of Hans “John Jacob” and Anna Elizabeth (Fishback) Rector, was born December 1, 1711 in Trupbach, Nassau Siegen, Germany, and died March 11, 1773 in Fauquier County VA His firstr wife is unknown. He married Anna Catherina Fishback in Faquier County VA in March 1732/33. Anna, a daughter of John and Agnes (Hagel) Fishback, was born in 1714 in Orange County VA and died in 1775 in Fauquier County. John and Anna were cousins.

Harmon Rector, a son Children of Hans “John Jacob” and Anna Elizabeth (Fishback) Rector, was born 1718 in England and died before September 23, 1789 in Fauquier County VA. (His will was date September 23, 1782,and probated September 28,1789), He married Mary Nelson about 1731 in Fauquier County VA. She was born about 1714 in Fauquier County. Harman Rector's Will only names Harmon Rector Jr. but does mention my "three Sons" and "My Children." It reads in part "I give to my son Harmon Rector, one hundred acres of land more or less lying in the Germantown adjoining Afnes Utterbachs land. I likewise give and bequeath to my son Harmon Rector one negro named Peter. "

Henry R. Rector, a son of John and Anna Catharina (Fishback) Rector, was born March 1, 1735/36 in Fauquier County VA and died there April 8, 1781. He married Mary Glasscock about 1765 in Fauquier County VA. Mary, a daughter of John and Margaret (Young) Glasscock, She was born in 1734 in Fauguier County VA and died there in 1820.

Known child of Henry and Mary (Glasscock) Rector.

Nancy Rector, a daughter of John and Anna Catharina (Fishback) Rector, was born about 1737 and died after 1799. She married George Thomas McElwain Jr. about 1752. George, a son of George Thomas and Margaret (Thompson) McElwain, was born about 1720 in Cumberland County PA and died in VA before 1799. Nancy was living in Franklin County, VA in 1799, and gave permission for daughter Sarah to marry. "I Certifie that my Dauter Sarah is of full age and that I have Consented that shee may join in marriage with Charles Vinson given under my hand this 22nd of April 1799 Nancy McWain."
